Apples to Apples?

So I was attempting sleep the other night, and suddenly I sat up and thought, Apples to Apples is NOT the correct name for that game!!! Yeah people are all homo sapiens, however, we each have VERY different personalities! It's like trying to compare crackers to celery or something! or strawberries to tv shows! it just doesn't work. So they're trying to make us all fit into categories! I've never felt more stereotyped.

The opposing argument would be that people are finding their apples; the things that do accurately describe them. Have you ever played Apples to Apples the way where every green card you win is supposed to be what you are (i.e. fresh, pure, sexy, attractive, patriotic, chunky, luscious etc)? well, these are your newly found apples. treasure them, for they are you. They describe your being, your essence. Never let them go!

on the other hand. it's Apples to Apples. Enjoy it. Laugh at yourself...and at the ironic destiny of the 'my body' card.

Christianity

Definitions of Christians (nouns):  1. a person who believes in Jesus Christ; adherent of Christianity. 2. A person who exemplifies in his or her life the teachings of Christ: He died like a true Christian. 3. A member of any of certain Protestant churches, as the Disciples of Christ and the Plymouth Brethren. 4. The hero of Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress. 5. A male given name. (courtesy of http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/christian)

Now, which of these is the most 'politically correct'? I was discussing with my roommates the controversy surrounding the company's decision to take out Catholic based product from the Christian Supply Store in Beaverton, Oregon this summer. Catholics do believe in Christ. Latter-day Saints believe in Christ. We share this, and as of the 1st definition of being a Christian, we are. However, the 3rd definition says that a Christian is someone who is a member of a Protestant church. This is where the differing opinions butt heads. Now we must turn to the 2nd definition: 'A person who exemplifies in his or her life the teachings of Christ'. Any individual who believes in Christ, and is striving to become a better person each day, should be considered a Christian. All this animosity between faiths is not Christlike. We should be accepting and loving of all our brothers and sisters, no matter what they believe. A Christian, I believe, is someone who believes in Christ and strives to exemplify in their life the teachings of Christ. This includes a broad selection of people, and what better a way to become closer to our brothers and sisters than through Christ.

cleaning: questions and memories

Well, turns out i completely wore myself out yesterday, and i only got 5 hours of sleep. why is this do you ask? cleaning checks. oh joy. see, it wouldn't be so bad if we'd keep up on our chores, but with our already lack of sleep plus people's jobs plus school plus homework plus what we'd like to call a social life...chores are kinda at the bottom of the list. Why is that? Why does house cleaning always come in last in the list of priorities when looking at a group of people (aka people living together in college...roommates...including myself)? Is it because everyone thinks everyone else is going to do it? We ALL know that NO ONE else is going to do chores. I remember when i was little, on Saturday mornings my mom and i would clean...or rather, mom would clean and i would dance to the Enya or David Arkenstone (aka: 'The Castle CD') being played loud. So now, when i'm cleaning i absolutely love having all the windows open and listening to Enya loud! its the best feeling. cuz i love cleaning.

I'm an atmosphere junkie. I am always in search of the perfect atmosphere. like, sitting by the fire, having the popping sounds, being the perfect temperature, the perfect lighting, the perfect weather outside, and the perfect book, or person. Make sense? hmmm...

well...homework calls.

FUN FUN

Well, vigilance on my blog is something I hope to keep as I continue through school. Projects here and there and everywhere, with homework filling in the space in between. Church is just ridin on the top there.

okay, so you should join goodreads and add me as a friend, because goodreads is awesome and because i'm always looking for good books of every kind! I just finished Hunger Games. incredible. Not really true resemblance to Twilight, but its...yeah it's not close. Hunger Games is so great. I love being drawn into a book always wondering what is going to happen next, always on the edge of peril. Suspense i really like. Twilight...pretty predictable, but i do love a good romance ish type thing too. Which is why i'm so frustrated with Katniss about not picking someone! grrrrr. just choose! we'll all be happy with who you choose...or rather, i'll be happy with what you choose, just pick one so we can stop agonizing over it! agonizing over who is so frustrating cuz it's so obvious what's good about both of them that it's so hard to pick. I should NOT have to try to pick for you in my head. goodness knows i do way too much thinking about relationships anyways, i shouldn't have to feel obligated to think about yours too so just pick! random question, anyone have Catching Fire i can borrow?

uhm...so i've recently discovered my love of cleanliness and renewed my love of cooking...in cleanliness. 'nuff said.

this is all for today. i still have projects galore to do. i'll write sumthin about my questions about human nature later. i'm excited for that.

oh, the title, "Constant Vigilance"...those of you who are HP fans, know who said it. Then it is also from a Latter-Day Saint Prophet, Spencer W. Kimball in his book Miracle of Forgiveness. Constant Vigilance is what it takes to get through every day of life the way God would have you, to fight your battles and to see what's coming so you're prepared. Constant Vigilance everyone, till next time.
