Adventures: The River Trail (Megan)

Something of a blustery Saturday, but it was perfect for a bike ride along the River Trail.

I loved this spot where the beautiful trees lean over the pathway like nature's cathedral. I wanted to get more photos but forgot my memory card.

Going biking was a great work out and gorgeous trail. Biking alone isn't smart so bring a friend and have fun while you're being safe. Between the two of us we only got lost once!
We made it all the way out to the lake which was a goal for me ever since I was a little kid who couldn't bike very far. I got something off my summer adventure list and had an awesome memorial day weekend.

Art: The First (Megan)

My respect for all bloggers has suddenly shot through the roof. I had no idea how intimidating blogging could be. I've tried multiple times to post, but found myself staring at a blank page for longer than I care to admit.
To counter this intimidation I've decided to Blog in the area where I feel most comfortable–art!

These were all on display for a while, and the two below are recent additions.

These were created by splatter painting with red and black paint on white paper and then cutting them to the desired form. I then mounted them on black matte and called it finished. I love playing with the negative space and strong contrast. If you are having a bad day I recommend splatter painting a blank page to your heart's content. It will make you feel better I promise!

Hopefully you'll be hearing more from me as overcome my blogging timidness.

Eager Eats: Voodoo Doughnut (Melanie)

Chad and I love watching the Food Network. One of Chad's favorite shows on it is Man Vs. Food. They went to Portland once and they went to Voodoo Doughnut. Living my teenage years in Portland, of course I knew about it, but I hate driving in downtown Portland and I had never been with my friends when they had gone. So, we decided to go, and to take my 12 year old brother Nicholas with us. I had no idea what to expect other than Bacon Maple Bars and a bucket of doughnuts!

Thankfully Chad drove into Portland :D He makes me so happy!

Here they are about to walk in!
This is the picture from the overall trip to Oregon.

Here's the funky sign.
Honestly, I was getting a little nervous that it was
going to be a weird Portland place that I really didn't
want to be, but it turned out just to be a little different.
They had wacky chandeliers and such. It was great!

So we got a bucket of day-old-doughnuts for $5!!!
We had to eat 6 doughnuts just to get the lid on the top!

It wasn't a small bucket either.

They were really good for being a day old! The doughnuts
with cereal on the top were a little weird, but the rest were sooo good!

My favorite were the buttermilk bars. I'd never had them before.

If you've never been to Voodoo, go. It's getting a good rating from me!
Plus, they were really helpful and they had really quick service! 5 stars!
